Organized in partnership with Tulane University and Ashé Cultural Arts Center, Rituals of Repair and Renewal is a three-day immersive experience showcasing the engaged scholarship and creative work of a wide range of members of the IA consortium and artists, scholars, organizers, and leaders addressing the most pressing issues of our time, in and beyond higher education.

The IA National Gathering convenes artists, scholars, and culture bearers from across the country for learning, sharing, community building, and celebration through performances, participatory workshops, roundtable discussions, and community-hosted site visits throughout New Orleans. This year we feature a track throughout the Gathering on engaged graduate student scholarship in the arts, design, and humanities.

The 2022 IA National Gathering is in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Gathering’s primary sessions and workshops will take place in the Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) on the Tulane University campus in New Orleans. The LBC is #29 on this interactive map of the Tulane University campus.

The Friday morning opening plenary will occur at a theater in the city of New Orleans (TBC), and the Friday evening reception will be held at The Building (1427 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, near Ashé Cultural Arts Center). Six site visits are hosted by community organizations at locations throughout the city of New Orleans.

The full Gathering schedule will be available in late September. A print program will be given to every person registered at the Gathering, and a virtual program app can be downloaded via the IA Gathering website in early October.

View our Schedule at a Glance for information on the timing and locations of major Gathering events and sessions.

Site visit registration is available to already registered Gathering participants. See registration information below. A separate registration process will open on September 26, 2022, to sign up for site visits. All Gathering registrants will be notified in advance via email.
