“Kiswahili Lessons” (Poem on 9×12 Canvas Painting)

While crafting this piece, I reflected on my experiences as both a Detroiter, and a Fulbright Scholar living and working in East Africa. Both places are bound by their relationship and proximity to water. All people are bound by the necessity for clean water, and the ways we share its use with others.
