This artwork was inspired by the idea that water is life and that water is alive. The background aims to capture the ways that water is constantly in flux, traversing our environments and ecosystems in various forms. The white and black boxes represent balance—water always finds its way back to its equilibrium—but also the ways in which water has a life of its own— sometimes life-affirming, sometimes life-threatening. Finally, the flowers are from my yard in Tennessee, serving as a reminder that water intimately connects all of us down to the smallest wildflower, which is also an essential part of its environment.
