I placed yarn in an organic pattern to symbolize the ocean and show its natural movement.
This project served as a reminder to me of how important it is that we protect our planet. I think that we talk about climate change so much that we have characterized it with a sense of normalcy now. The small act of making art related to the issue has really inspired me to act more on the cause. As I was creating my piece for this project, I experienced a lot of guilt and anger. We make art inspired by these beautiful wonders of nature and take for granted that our actions are destroying these natural wonders. This project has shown me how art can be used to create a conversation about climate change between complete strangers. It has given me a sense of hope that, with enough talking, we could start creating actual change that will protect our planet. It has made me rethink a lot of things that I do in my day-to-day life and find more sustainable ways to replace them.
