Laken Brooks
This comic strip does not include real blood. I used watercolor paint and water to replicate the color of my blood. I used the same index finger that I often prick to check my blood glucose levels. This project reminded me of the water cycle, which is vital to all of life, and of the water that flows through my perfectly flawed body. Water connects all living things.
Water is important, and I often am dehydrated. According to some studies, a large portion of the US population is consistently dehydrated. I am reminded of the lack of water in my veins when I try to check my glucose levels and struggle to push blood from my finger tip. Water surrounds and supports all of us. It flows through and fills our veins, much like water runs through rivers and streams. Water is the lifeblood of our world.
