I grew up in Mexico where water is precious; when I was a little girl there was a campaign to save water, so I grew up with this concept of “ciérrale” that we can translate as “don’t let it run.”  The embroidery style I used is from the Mexican region of Michoacan called Tenango de Dorigan; the thread is like running water that in this case we can save and preserve in this one piece.”
