What Does It Mean To Be An American?

Alicia Decker – Ellen M. Knutson

Quilt squares are being exchanged through USPS envelopes, inviting over forty people so far across the country to engage in conversation around this topic while stitching their own response to the question “What Does It Mean to Be an American?”.

These text-embroidered quilt squares are being collected to start an ongoing community-created quilt. Also, a quilt was created including 450 peoples’ thoughts on what it means to be American in community conversations held across Oregon.
