Mitigating Ghostly URLS
Mitigating Ghostly URLS
By Adrienne Adams
This talk addresses the altruistic rhetoric of “access” that undergirds faculty and student-led digital projects displaying minoritarian histories. This rhetoric does not account for the reality that many, if not most, digital projects garner low readership rates. I propose utilizing community organizing’s power mapping tool and database administration’s business requirements analysis to address the expressed pain point regarding readership. Both strategies enable project managers and stakeholders to grapple with the constellation of relationships and where the digital project may or may not fall into these interpersonal and institutional dynamics.
