A collage on a wall. In the center is a self-portrait of a woman with dark black hair. She wears glasses. Her left eye is closed, while her right one looks out at the audience. Her face is drawn on two pieces of paper – one yellow, one green. Her clothing is made of wrapping paper featuring Japanese motifs. There are a couple of butterflies around her, pieces of red paper, and string.

My art reflects the reckoning of culture, as people tend to destroy another person’s humanity due to the values their culture holds and beliefs they have spiritually and physically.

It was emotional as I was always held as not black enough or too black and putting that through the elements of fire, water, air, and earth has made me realize how connected I am to the harsh words presented to me.
